Recently LEV has published some homilies by St. James (for the first time in Italian) on the forgiven woman in the house of the Pharisee Simon, as narrated in the Gospel of Luke (7:36-50) in the volume "Amore che profuma". Here you can read a few verses that can give you a glimpse and taste of such a beauty. While it cheers the heart, it opens it to the acceptance of the Lord's mercy, which we all need so much.
"The Lord at Simon's table
The Lord has lowered himself to eat the bread of the Pharisee,
but His love moved the Sinner to come closer. He was hungry to forgive, because of the mercy that was woven into Him,
290 and in Simon's banquet he found what he was looking for.
They invited him, like a prophet, to eat bread.
But He, like God, used forgiveness.
The cry that he heard from the Prostitute was more pleasant
of the foods that Simon had prepared to offer him" (vv. 287-294; pp. 73-74).
