"Dall'informatica al cielo. Carlo Acutis" is the new updated and enriched edition of the biographical volume dedicated to Blessed Carlo Acutis published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana in 2016 entitled: Un genio dell'informatica in cielo. Biography of the Servant of God Carlo Acutis.
The volume - now part of the Testimoni series - has a new preface by Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò and a new introduction by Nicola Gori, author and postulator of the cause for the beatification of Carlo, updated to the current situation of the process in view of the Canonization.
This new publishing project is based on the collaboration between Libreria Editrice Vaticana and VatiVision (www.vativision.com).
In fact, on the back cover there is a QRcode that refers to a web page - available at the link https://www.vativision.com/it/events/dall-informatica-al-cielo - from which it is possible to buy or rent the film on the life of Carlo Acutis "La Mia Autostrada per il Cielo" and access free content dedicated to him.
Carlo Acutis, the 15-year-old Internet addict who will be beatified on 10 October 2020, died in 2006 after a childhood and adolescence transformed by the grace of God. From an early age he had the gift of connecting with many people and was perceived as an example by his peers. He saw the web as a "vehicle for evangelisation and catechesis" and he put his IT skills at the service of the Gospel and the Church by bringing Jesus, through the Internet and social networks, among his peers and all those who lived in contact with him. Among the cornerstones of his life: prayer, a sense of mission, love for the Virgin Mary and the daily Eucharist.
In the post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation "Christus vivit" of 25 March 2020, Pope Francis proposes Charles to young people as a model of holiness in the digital age. The validity of Carlo's message - underlines Nicola Gori in the Foreword to the new edition - was confirmed by the Church when, on 10 October 2020, his beatification took place in the Upper Basilica of St Francis in Assisi (pg.27). His 'existence,' the author recalls, 'teaches us that holiness is ageless and that it is possible for everyone, whatever their culture' (pg. 35), their lineage, origin or language.
On 19 March, Pope Francis will inaugurate the "Amoris Laetitiae Family Year", which will end on 26 June 2022. Dall'informatica al cielo (From computers to heaven) is a book aimed at young people and families to grow together, letting themselves be provoked by the charism of an authentic figure such as Carlo Acutis.
