In this oeuvre the author collects all the obituary notices of Chinese bishops died between 2004 and 2017, whose passing was divulgated by the Roman Observer in the section “Lutto nell’episcopato”. The period was not randomly selected but it coincides with the aim of the newspaper of the Holy See to divulgate the funeral events regarding the Chinese episcopate and intends to provide an impressive amount of historical data which are a precious resource for those experts interested in China. Indeed, through these data, vicissitudes, distresses and developments of the respective diocesan communities and their relationship with the regime of the Maoist revolution are documented.
