Getting to know Pope Francis better through the testimony of a brother in the faith and a long-time friend, in the context of the tenth anniversary of his pontificate: this is the proposal of Libreria Editrice Vaticana, which has organised eight events from 12 to 21 March with Marcelo Figueroa, an Argentinean presbyter of the Presbyterian Church, biblical scholar and journalist, and a friend of Jorge Mario Bergoglio for over 20 years.
This is the detailed programme of the eight public meetings:
Sunday 12 March at 3pm at the Fraternity of Romena (via Romena, 1 - Pratovecchio Stia) Marcelo Figueroa will dialogue with writer and Vaticanist Annachiara Valle and with Paolo Ruffini, prefect of the Holy See's Dicastery for Communication. The meeting will be opened by Fr Luigi Verdi, head of the Fraternity of Romena, and conducted by journalist Massimo Orlandi.
On Monday 13 March at 8.45 p.m. in Lecco, the Casa sul Pozzo (Corso Bergamo, 69) will host a discussion with journalist Chiara Zappa.
Tuesday 14 March at 8.30 pm in Bolzano (Chiesa dei Tre Santi - Viale Duca d'Aosta, 25) will be the turn of a dialogue with journalist Francesco Comina.
Wednesday 15 March at 8.45 p.m. in San Bonifacio (Sala Civica Barbarani - Via Marconi, 5) Marcelo Figueroa will hold a dialogue with Paolo Ambrosini of the BONTURI Bookshop in San Bonifacio.
On Thursday 16 March at 8.45 p.m. in Brescia (sala Bevilacqua - via Pace, 10) the meeting will be moderated by journalist Claudio Baroni.
Friday 17 March at 9 pm in Modena, Marcelo Figueroa will be welcomed for a dialogue in the parish of S. Pio X (Via Vincenzo Bellini, 101).
On Monday 20 March in Bari at 6 pm, the head of the Argentine edition of L'Osservatore Romano will meet the public at the Istituto Scolastico Preziosissimo Sangue in Bari (Via Scipione l'Africano, 272). The meeting will be moderated by Francesca Palamà, nun of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ and headmaster of the Institute.
Molfetta Tuesday 21 March at 7.00 p.m. at the Museo Diocesano Molfetta (via Entica della Chiesa) the dialogue will take place with Msgr. Domenico Cornacchia, Bishop of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi and Don Michele Amorosini, director of the Museo Diocesano Molfetta. The meeting will be moderated by Msgr. Carlo Santoro, regional officer for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue.
These eight dialogues have been organised with the support of the Cattolica Foundation.
Marcelo Figueroa is the author of "Le diversità riconciliate. Un protestante nel giornale del Papa", which collects his articles, interviews and contributions published in L'Osservatore Romano, and co-author of Conversazioni sulla Bibbia con Jorge Mario Bergoglio e Abraham Skorka, both published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana. He is the first Protestant to be a contributor and regular contributor in the centuries-long history of the Holy See's daily newspaper, of which he is editor of the Argentine edition.
