The book collects the stories of those who, in this tragic period marked by the covid-19 health emergency, have seen their lives changed. "These who are dressed in white, who are they and where do they come from? are those who come from the great tribulation and who have washed their clothes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Rev. 7:13-14). All the protagonists of this book, at a certain point, have been called to wear a new garment or, perhaps, their usual clothes have changed color and have become white "because - the Apocalypse illuminates us - they have been made white by the blood of the Lamb after passing through the door of the great tribulation" (from the Introduction). Martyrs of the pandemic and witnesses of something to bring to others, to communicate. "The history of these months, so vividly summarized and enclosed in the history of these people, reveals itself as a time of choice. The pandemic is not a divine punishment, as if it were the consequence of an implacable judgment of the divinity on the man of today. Rather: it contains an invitation, and offers itself as a "propitious moment" to reconstruct our scale of values, personal and planetary, a scale that we have either forgotten or debased or culpably modified to our liking" (from the Introduction).
