FRANCESCO Un uomo di parola

A photographic volume that tells the genesis of the project related to the realization of the docufilm Francesco. Un uomo di parola (2018), directed by Wim Wenders and an idea of Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò. "We could define Pope Francis. A man of speech an intense and poetic dialogue between the Pope and each of us," writes Msgr. Viganò in the Introduction to the text, "consisting of the most significant moments of his pontificate, the scenes shot specifically for the film and evocative images of the places and life of the saint of Assisi. An encounter, that of Wim Wenders (and his cinema) and Pope Francis (and his ministry), which is woven into a screenplay similar to the "murmur of a light wind" (cf. 1 Kings 19:12), with a direction that makes the encounter between Pope Francis and the spectator the main line. In Wim Wenders' film, Pope Bergoglio is, in a sort of paradox, "a protagonist not an actor": the Pope is above all a look and a word, places of encounter and relationship with each one of us, to whom he whispers, with the calmness of his narration, the Church, the one he - he announced at the beginning of his pontificate - would like "poor for the poor". It is the story of him, found almost "at the end of the world", who lives obedience to the Spirit to make the choices that help him and all of us to be good disciples of the Gospel.
