Preface by Giacomo Poretti
Patron, guardian and father: these are the three words with which Pope Francis characterises Mary's spouse and the earthly father of Jesus, St Joseph, to whom he dedicated a cycle of catecheses held from 17 November 2021 to 16 February 2022, on the occasion of the general audiences. These reflections are now collected in this volume. Francis' appeal resounds strongly: 'The Christian is like St Joseph: he must guard. To be a Christian is not only to receive the faith, to confess the faith, but to guard life, one's own life, the life of others, the life of the Church".
