In the present volume Cardinal Filoni traces a more complete history of the presence of Christians in Iraq, beginning with the beginnings of the proclamation of the Gospel until today. "Will this manifold and rich Christian presence survive in the near future, or will it disappear? This is the basic question that animates the book, which begins with a geo-political framework of the region and then retraces history from the first century, with the preaching in Mesopotamia attributed to St. Thomas and the disciples Addai and Mari.
