Waiting for Charles de Foucauld's canonisation

Already last spring (see Charles de Foucauld to become a saint soon) it was officially announced that Blessed Charles de Foucauld will soon be a saint.  The date has not yet been announced, but in different parts of the world people are trying to prepare themselves for the event through prayer and a deeper knowledge of the life of the Universal Brother. He was recently recalled by Pope Francis too at the conclusion of his last encyclical Fratelli tutti with these words:

"Yet I would like to conclude by mentioning another person of deep faith who, drawing upon his intense experience of God, made a journey of transformation towards feeling a brother to all. I am speaking of Blessed Charles de Foucauld. Blessed Charles directed his ideal of total surrender to God towards an identification with the poor, abandoned in the depths of the African desert. In that setting, he expressed his desire to feel himself a brother to every human being, and asked a friend to “pray to God that I truly be the brother of all”. He wanted to be, in the end, “the universal brother”. Yet only by identifying with the least did he come at last to be the brother of all. May God inspire that dream in each one of us. Amen."

In July 2020, Libreria Editrice Vaticana also published a new biography of Brother Charles of Jesus, written by Fr. Andrea Mandonico, vice-postulator of the cause of canonisation (listen to Father Andrea Mandonico's interview about Charles de Foucauld), in view of this upcoming event.  The volume is part of the series Inspirations, Spirituality series, and its original - compared to other biographies - because it tries to put Charles and the reader in dialogue, around fundamental themes of the life of faith of each of us: the search for God, adherence to the Gospel in everyday life, discovering God as Father, fraternity, etc..

Here you will find the preface, introduction and general summary.
