A dialogue on the need for a cultural, social and economic paradigm shift to ensure that the planet has a future, The taste for change. La transizione ecologica come via per la felicità (Slow Food Editore / Libreria Editrice Vaticana, pp. 176, euro 18, in bookshops from 17 May) is the book-confrontation between two leading intellectuals on the international scene: Carlo Petrini, gastronome, founder of Slow Food, Terra Madre and the world's first University of Gastronomic Sciences, and Gaël Giraud, economist, mathematician and theologian, Jesuit, director of the Environmental Justice Programme at Georgetown University in Washington.
In the preface, Pope Francis describes 'a book that has a flavour of hope, of authenticity, of the future'.
Prompted by questions from Stefano Arduini, editor of the magazine Vita and of vita.it, in this volume Giraud and Petrini analyse the food, economic and financial system to point out their respective distortions and propose radical changes.
