The book contains the Acts of the Study Day on the theme The archive of Apostolic Penitentiary: the present situation and future perspectives organised on 22^nd November 2016 by the Apostolic Penitentiary in collaboration with the École française de Rome and the Deutsches Historisches Institut in Rom. Theaim of the volume was to assess the results of the activities carried out in the five years following the opening of the Archive of the Penitentiary to experts' consultation in order to identify new analysis and research paths that the patrimony of the  Apostolic Penitentiary can still offer.
