Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer was born in Barbastro, Spain, on 9th January 1902. After having received a Christian upbringing by his parents, he was ordained to the priesthood on 28th March 1925. On 2nd October 1928 he founded Opus Dei. He moved to Rome in 1946, where he stayed until his death on 26th June 1975.
On 17th May 1992 he was beatified by St John Paul II and ten years later, on 6th October 2002, he was declared a Saint.
This oeuvre, divided into three volumes, explains from a theological point of view Saint Josemaría ‘s message on the sanctification of ordinary work and the whole daily life.
