The book aims to reveal some secret techniques for the realization of musical canons derived from the proper use of the Tabula Mirifica, a mysterious numerical square appeared during the seventeenth century in the texts of Silverio Picerli and Athanasius Kircher. This work, besides being a technical manual of composition, intends to highlight the absolute importance of the quadratic mathematics during the aesthetic evolution of Western music. at the same time it reveals the existence of esoteric teachings, responsible for the correct and deeper transmission of this theological-artistic knowledge.
