Juan Carlos Scannone, S.I., was born in Buenos Aires in 1932 and is a Jesuit theologian. He is one of the main representatives of the Argentine school of the Theology of People. He obtained a doctorate from the University of Munich and he was professor of J.M. Bergoglio at the seminar of Villa Devoto. He is professor in various universities, among which the Pontifical Gregorian University. He is director of the Institute of Philosophical Studies at the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy of San Miguel in Argentina. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and councellor of CLEAM. He also collaborates with La Civiltà Cattolica.
